Our Mission Statement
Promised Land Foundation seeks to address the challenges of poverty for children and their families living in Zambia and Malawi, Africa, and beyond. We partner with local organizations already working in their communities to provide education, food, shelter, clothing, and the hope and love of the Gospel. Our heartfelt prayer is that more and more children grow up without the burden of poverty and can experience the hope of having opportunities for success and living their lives to the fullest potential.
“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Ensuring a Future & a Hope
The initial goal is to provide “a future and a hope” for the orphaned children encountered (approximately 68 at last count) in the Dedza region of Malawi. I personally have visited these orphaned children twice to date, in March 2020 and March 2022, and I plan to return there in November 2022. When I say these children have relatively nothing but the tattered clothes on their backs, I present a truth and reality. Orphaned children are living with moms/families from the local church who do their best to care for them. These children have very little means of food, clothing, and education.
I recall, as is etched in my mind for a long time to come, “interviewing” a 17- year-old teenage girl there as she appeared depressed and withdrawn (pictured here). She had a third-grade education to that point and obviously an uncertain future and little hope. Their difficult situation(s) truly breaks my heart, knowing I would soon be returning to the abundance of what we enjoy in the US. This initial target, and a large one, is to raise funds to formalize and establish this orphanage with proper education, food, clothing, and shelter – and blanketed with everlasting hope in the Gospel. We intend to name this “Tree of Life” and begin to make a lasting difference in these children’s lives in 2023 and beyond.
